Raise your hand if you’ve been personally victimized by starting a business, hyping up a launch, creating a ton of content, creating new social profiles, only to launch and get…crickets.
(Queue Taylor Swift) “It’s me, hi, I’m the problem it’s me”
But in all seriousness, I can’t be the only one that has felt this way.
The Pinner’s Circle launched just about two weeks ago, and watching small business after small business go “viral” on social media and their businesses EXPLODE overnight, I don’t know why I put those same expectations on myself.
After literally JUST launching my business.
But, it’s fine.
Instead of sitting here and waiting for my vanity numbers to pick up, I’ve decided to conduct a little experiment.
I’m going to commit to the best practices of Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest for 30 days during the month of November and see how it grows my business.
Now I’m not talking about followers, likes, and impressions, I’m talking about the numbers that as a new business owner we should probably be more focused on: Website traffic, sales/inquiries, and email subscribers.
Now don’t get me wrong, more followers would be nice, but that’s not the goal here. I’m going to invest my time into these platforms to see which one(s) are most beneficial for the backend numbers of a business. The numbers that make your business a business.
I want to be really transparent with you and share all of my starting numbers, and then I’ll do a follow up post with my results at the end of the 30 days.
Here’s a couple things I want to preface before I dive into my before stats:
- I am not going to create original content for each platform. I come from a blogging background, so I am going to stick to what I know and create 1-2 pieces of long form content a week and pull from that to create my social posts and repurpose content across social platforms.
- I obviously stand behind Pinterest and 100% believe that Pinterest should be a part of any small business’s marketing plan. However, I know that to get the desired results you want from Pinterest, you need to have a consistent strategy that you can implement for 3m+ to start seeing those results. As a new business owner, I know you might not have the time to invest into Pinterest. That’s why I’m treating Pinterest as an equal here and will track to see how much website data comes from the platform just like TikTok & Instagram, so that when you do go to start your business you know which platform is the most beneficial to *start* with, and you can slowly add the others in as you have more time/desire too.
