What Even is Pinterest Marketing and Why is it Important for Business Growth

June 13, 2023

Look, I know you’re not new to Pinterest Marketing, but sometimes when you delve deeply into something, you lose track of the finer details of it and how you can actually use it to grow your business.

Now I know what you’re thinking, isn’t Pinterest for getting my weekly dinner plan together or planning my next event? The answer is: no. It’s actually an incredible (and free) marketing platform that has the power to grow your business.

Because you had no idea this was the case and you’ve been using it to plan tomorrow’s dinner, you’re nervous to ask for help on how to switch gears and use Pinterest to benefit your business.

Don’t worry, that’s what I’m here for!

I will explain Pinterest Marketing and why you need to know all about it to grow your business.

What is Pinterest Marketing For Business

What is Pinterest Marketing?

At its most basic, Pinterest Marketing  is all about using the power of pictures to showcase your brand and attract customers. It’s like having a virtual bulletin board where you can pin images related to your products or services. By creating eye-catching boards and sharing inspiring visuals, you can engage with potential customers and drive traffic to your website. It’s a fun and creative way to market your business!

Let’s add a little more depth to that—Pinterest marketing involves leveraging visual content on the platform to promote your brand, products, or services. By curating boards and sharing appealing images, you can engage with your target audience and drive traffic to your website. It’s a visually-driven approach that utilizes the unique features of Pinterest, such as pins, boards, and discovery algorithms, to increase brand visibility and generate leads. It’s an effective strategy for businesses looking to tap into the power of visual storytelling and inspire audience engagement.

If that second explanation makes no sense to you, don’t worry. If you stick around long enough, you’ll figure it out in no time!.

Why Should You Care About Adding Pinterest To Your Marketing Strategy?

I’m all about not wasting time in your business if it doesn’t feel right for you, and I can’t make you care about Pinterest Marketing, but let me give you some reasons why you should consider making it a part of your organic marketing strategy.

Pinterest Marketing is important because:

  • Visual Appeal: Pinterest is a highly visual platform, making it ideal for businesses that have visually appealing products or services. By showcasing your offerings through high-quality images, you can capture the attention of users, inspire them, and create a desire to engage with your brand.
  • Targeted Audience: Pinterest has a huge user base, and it allows businesses to reach a specific target audience effectively. Users actively search for inspiration, ideas, and products, providing an opportunity to connect with individuals who are already interested in what your business offers. This targeted exposure can lead to higher-quality traffic and potential customers.
  • Increased Website Traffic and Sales: Pinterest acts as a traffic driver to your website. Each pin can contain a link to your website or product page, directing users to learn more or make a purchase. By consistently sharing compelling content, you can drive traffic to your website, boost conversions, and ultimately increase sales.

How Pinterest Marketing Can Impact Your Business

How Pinterest affects your business is just as important as understanding what exactly Pinterest Marketing is and why it’s essential.

Let me share my story with you:

In March of 2023, I was 32w2d pregnant and had to have an emergency delivery of my son. He ended up staying in the NICU for two months. During that time, I was off of social media, and I had a lifestyle blog that was only being marketed on Pinterest. I ended up having a viral pin at the same time, and I brought in over $2800 in ad and affiliate income from one viral pin.

Not knowing how I was going to pay these expensive hospital bills, this was incredible.

The moment my son was in the clear, I vowed to teach other mamas how to use Pinterest to market their businesses, so that when life inevitably happens and you have to take some time off of showing your face on IG stories to make a sale, your business will survive and Pinterest can work for you in the background.

3 Tips For Getting Started With Pinterest

So, are you ready to life-proof your biz with Pinterest? Here’s some of my best tips to help you get started:

  • Optimize Your Profile: Your Pinterest profile is a gold mine–it’s searchable (we’ll chat about keywords in a second), and It’s also a place to visually show who you are and what your business is.
  • Create Click-Worthy Images: Remember to create scroll stopping Pin images. Pinterest is a visual platform, so make sure your Pins are visually appealing! If you need some help with this, you actually get 5-10 new Pinterest templates in The Lounge every single month.
  • Use Keywords: Use keywords EVERYWHERE. In your profile, in your Pin titles, pin descriptions, on the Pin itself, your boards, anywhere you can use keywords, do it. If you’re not sure how to find the keywords to use on Pinterest, I have a FREE keyword research guide that you can grab here
